Acclaimed musician Sam Smith has been forced to postpone a portion of their tour, which was slated to kick off in Glasgow’s OVO Hydro on Saturday evening. The sudden decision comes as Smith and members of their team have fallen ill due to a viral infection. The Scottish segment of their highly anticipated Gloria tour will now take place next month.
The 30-year-old artist took to Instagram on Friday to break the unfortunate news to their fans. In the announcement, Smith expressed their regret: “Sailors… I’m so sorry to say but we have to reschedule the Glasgow show to 25th May 2023. Myself and a lot of my team have been hit with a virus, that’s made us really unwell.” Smith further emphasized their commitment to delivering the best possible concert experience for their fans, stating that the current circumstances made it impossible to achieve this.
Controversial Performances and Costume Choices
Smith began their UK and Europe tour with concerts in Sheffield, Dublin, and London. The performances have garnered mixed reactions, with some audience members expressing concerns over the appropriateness of Smith’s stage attire and actions for younger attendees.
